'Wolverine 2' script to be re-written

The Wolverine, the next instalment in the X-Men spin-off, is being completely re-written byMark Bomback.

The film's production has already been delayed until next year partly because Hugh Jackman, is currently shooting Les Miserables. Now director James Mangold has replaced current script-writer Christopher McQuarrie, who previously worked on The Usual Suspects, with Bomback, who recently wrote Len Wiseman's Total Recallremake, reports Variety.com.

The sequel finds Wolverine suffering from amnesia and searching for answers about his past in the Japanese criminal underworld, finding both love and tragedy.

The entire cast will be comprised of Japanese and Japanese-American actors except forJackman and a character named Viper, the Caucasian secretary for Japan's Minister of Justice.

The road to production for the Wolverine sequel has been a rocky one, with directorDarren Aronofsky walking away from the project during pre-production, citing 'creative differences'.

After a long search, with names ranging from Moon director Duncan Jones andBourne's first film father Doug Liman, Mangold was eventually chosen as the replacement.
